S2 Pursuit of a Self-Sustaining St. Margaret's

A group of 6 S2 pupils recently completed the Go4SET challenge run by Engineering Development Trust Scotland, mentored by a STEM ambassador from the Glenmorangie bottling plant.
Pupils completed research into how St. Margaret's and our community could function as a self-sustaining island. The group came up with several fantastic ideas as to how this could be achieved, with suggestions including hydro power, biomass power and banning non-recyclable materials.
Pupils presented their project to a panel of industry professionals and various peer-groups at the ORIUM Centre, Heriot Watt University. The industry professionals thought the project was fantastic and especially liked how in-depth the report was and commented on how confidently the group presented.
The group received fantastic feedback, however, unfortunately were beaten to the national finals by Currie High School.
